Laminar chambers

In general, a laminar chamber or cabinet aims to prevent contamination of sensitive materials with any particles. Air is drawn in through HEPA filters and blown out in a smooth laminar flow towards the user. Cabinets are usually made of stainless steel. There are vertical and horizontal, of different configurations, with different patterns of air flow, according to different purposes and uses.

They provide an acceptable working environment that allows the retention of infectious sprays or aerosols, created by many biological processes. There are three different classes, which have been developed to meet different research and clinical needs.
